Privacy
There are no accounts, no adverts and no tracking scripts on this site. Most of this page is about the people who are listed, not the people who browse.

If you are just browsing
You do not need an account and we do not ask you for anything. We set no advertising or analytics cookies, and the site carries no third-party tracking scripts. Our hosting provider, Netlify, keeps standard server logs that include IP addresses, as any web server does, and we use those only to keep the site running and secure.
We do count page views, on our own servers, so that we can tell which parts of the directory are useful. For each page opened we record the address of the page, the time, the website you followed a link from if there was one, the country the request came from, and whether it came from a phone, a tablet or a computer. We do not use cookies to do it, we do not store your IP address, and there is no identifier of any kind that would let us recognise you, link one page to the next, or tell two people apart. Nothing is sent to anyone else. Most of what this counts is search engines and other automated crawlers, and we count those separately so we can see whether the directory is being indexed.
Two things on the page are loaded from elsewhere and will see your IP address as a result: typefaces from Google Fonts, and listing photographs and logos, which are served from Cloudinary and from the Tourpreneur and TripSchool community platforms. Where a listing embeds an intro video, that video is loaded from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode and only when the page is opened.
Links out to a listed business go through this site before they land, so that we can count how many people followed one and tell the business. We record which listing was clicked and when. The same rules as above apply: no cookie, no stored IP address, nothing that identifies you or links one click to another.
If you post a request or submit an event
A request is published as you write it, including any contact details you put in it, so put in only what you are happy for anyone to read. We keep your email address so we can reply to you about the post itself, and it is not published unless you write it into the post.
An event submission is checked against the event’s own website before it goes up. What gets published is information about the event. Your own details stay with us so we can come back to you with a question, and are not shown on the site.
If you send a business a message
The “Send an email” button on a listing opens a form. We email your name, your email address and your message to the business from The Tour Directory, so they can reply to you directly. We keep a record that a message was sent: your name, your email address, which listing it went to, when, and how long it was. We do not keep the message itself. To stop the form being used for spam we also keep a scrambled form of your IP address that cannot be turned back into the address, and use it only to limit how many messages one connection can send.
The one exception: if someone writes to many businesses in a short time, their messages are held for us to review instead of being delivered. While a message is held we keep its text so we can read it, then either deliver it or delete it. Held text is deleted as soon as we decide, and never kept longer than 90 days.
If you are listed here
Operator and guide listings are built from the profile you filled in as a member of the Tourpreneur or TripSchool community. What appears is business information: your business name and description, where you operate, the kinds of tours you run, your website and public social links, your photograph or logo, and your name and role. When you change your profile, the listing changes with it.
Your email address is never published. Visitors reach you through the form on your listing, which emails you from The Tour Directory with their own address to reply to. Nothing else you give the community is published here: not private notes, not revenue figures, not anything marked anonymous.
For technology and service companies, listings are compiled by us from public sources: the company’s own website and public material, or from what the company sends us through the listing form.
If you send that form, what is published is the business information you gave: the company name, website, one-line and longer description, country and categories. Your own name, role and email address are not published. We use them to tell you when the listing is live, and we share them with the Tourpreneur team, who may get in touch about the Preferred Partner program.
Where descriptions come from
Most descriptions are written by the business. Where one was missing, we have sometimes written a short factual description from the company’s public website so the listing was not blank. Anything you write yourself replaces it.
Removing your listing
There is a setting on your profile that hides your business from the public directory, and it takes effect without anyone having to approve it. You can also email hello@tourpreneur.com and ask us to remove it, without giving a reason. Ask us and we will also tell you what the directory currently holds about you, or correct it.
How long we keep things
A listing stays until the business hides it or asks us to remove it. Page view records made by automated crawlers are deleted after 30 days, and the rest after 90. The per-page visitor counts are kept indefinitely, because the point of them is to see how a page has done over its life, and they hold nothing about who anyone is. Requests come down when they are filled or when they go stale. Records of messages sent through a listing are kept so we can count them and deal with misuse; ask us and we will delete yours.
Your rights over your own information
Ask us and we will tell you what the directory holds about you, correct it, or delete it. You do not have to give a reason and there is nothing to pay. A listing is built from the profile you filled in on the Tourpreneur or TripSchool community, so deleting it here does not delete your community profile, and we will tell you how to do that as well if that is what you want.
If you are in the UK or the EU and you think we have handled your information badly, you can complain to your national data protection authority. We would rather you told us first, at hello@tourpreneur.com, so we can put it right.
Who else sees it
Everything on a listing is public by design. That is the point of a directory. We do not sell data, and we do not pass it to advertisers. The site is built on Supabase and hosted on Netlify, and messages sent through a listing are delivered by Resend. Those providers process the data on our behalf in order to run the site.
