About
As a former trial attorney, I learned to craft compelling, fact-based narratives—a skill I now use to bring destinations to life for travelers. I founded and operated a guided kayak tour business at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in northern Michigan and in Southwest Florida, earning Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Award for excellence in guest experiences. In 2026, I served as a tour director with Premier Alaska Tours, leading groups ranging from 25 to 49 guests. Across 17 tours, I earned an average overall guest evaluation score of 3.89 out of 4.0, with nine of those tours receiving perfect overall evaluations of 4.0. My philosophy is that the tour director should not be the center of the guest’s vacation. My responsibility is to manage the logistics, anticipate guests’ needs, and create opportunities for them to notice more, understand more, and connect more deeply with the places they have traveled so far to experience. I strive to provide substantive, accurate, and engaging commentary that illuminates the history, natural environment, and human stories that make each destination distinctive. In 2025, I completed a 2,650-mile Pacific Crest Trail thru-hike, an experience that deepened my appreciation for the natural world, personal resilience, and the transformative power of travel. I believe exceptional travel experiences do more than introduce people to new places. They invite discovery, inspire curiosity, and create lasting connections. Let’s turn destinations into discoveries and moments into memories.
Hobbies & Interests
I'm a lifelong learner and adventurer. While in retirement since fall 2020, I've traveled to more than a dozen countries, become a certified SCUBA diver, a wake surfer, and once again a motorcycle rider. Through the University of Florida and a local conservancy, I've obtained certification as a Master Naturalist regarding coastal systems. In 2025 I successfully completed the Pacific Crest Trail; this is a 2,650mile trail from Mexico to Canada. I had hoped to experience profound personal growth, though I didn't know how it would happen. Much to my delight, my personal growth exceeded my hopes and expectations.
Fun Fact
When I was 59 years old I learned to wake surf. That is, to surf in the wake of a boat without a rope, using only the hydrodynamics of the wave as propulsion.
