About
Hello! My name is Andrea Campfield. I live and work in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, just seven short minutes from downtown Tulsa. After 33 years of teaching English and Drama, I am eager to look toward life after retirement. It is for this reason I am attending the upcoming Tripcon in Louisville. My goal is to work as a tour guide in my teacher afterlife. I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you a bit about myself and the reasons I believe I would be a good candidate for hire. As a one man team in a 6A drama program, I have a wealth of experience in what it takes to plan, construct, advertise and execute a full drama season. Our program at Charles Page High School serves over 100 kids in all levels of drama study, technical theatre, and stage craft, all of which fall under my supervision and instruction. I am fortunate to often spend 4 years with these students guiding them through a fully developed curriculum and season which includes, musicals, one acts, full length plays, and national competitions. We elect a student board, plan the season, fundraise, advertise it, build the sets, and perform up to five shows each year. I tell you this because I believe the same tool kit would apply to the role of tour guide. Multi-tasking, flexibility, teamwork, leadership, and precise planning are key to the success of our seasons. More importantly, the experience of guiding students through dramaturgical study, story-telling, and critical thinking is my passion and the core of what we do when we bring life to the stage. As a retired educator, I want to continue to educate and lead others through life-changing experiences. Theatre is travel and life experiences on the stage. I would like to take that further into real-world scenarios working in the tour industry and sharing our world with others. In addition to a career in teaching, I am no stranger to educational travel. Since 2007, I have been a teacher leader of student tours. We have predominately toured through EF. I have taken hundreds of kids on both domestic and international tours over the past 2 decades. Teaching through travel has been one of the greatest joys of my time in public education. I still have students now grown enrolling on some of the adult tours I have organized. In addition to student travel, I spent a short professional stint in touring theatre through Montana Repertory Theatre where I worked for 2 years as an actor, writer, booking agent, and travel manager. I would now like to take that tour leadership experience, and my many years facilitating learning on stage and in a classroom into tour guiding with a company. I believe I have the communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, as well as the good health for this calling. I’ve enclosed my resume, which further details my goals, education and experience. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss my skills and qualifications in person in Louisville!
